Major UK Road Project to Cut Emissions

The Lower Thames Crossing in the UK announced ambitious plans to slash its construction carbon footprint by 70%. A vital £9 billion road project, it aims to ease congestion and stimulate economic growth by connecting Kent and Essex through a new tunnel under the Thames. This pioneering project will employ low-carbon materials and innovative methods, eliminating diesel use by 2027. It's a first for National Highways, creating a blueprint for sustainable infrastructure. Seven green bridges and one million new trees are also planned, with construction expected to last six years.
